Day 2: Singapore River, Merlion Park, Orchard Road & National Orchid Garden (B)
Discover the history of the “Little Red Dot”, the tender nickname the nation of Singapore has proudly claimed for fitting its larger-than-life status within its tiny borders. Start the adventure aboard a bumboat, a traditional water transportation vehicle used for decades to ferry people and products across the Singapore River. This is one of the best perspectives of the city skyline and its modern skyscrapers, stretching high and new from beyond the riverbank.
Disembark at Merlion Park, where the namesake water fountain statue proudly poses. The mythological figure – half lion, half fish – is another symbol of Singapore, and one of its most famous attractions. Take some pictures with the iconic statue, set against the scenic Marina Bay waterfront.
Continue on to the Civic District, the birthplace of modern Singapore. Admire the district’s historic architecture, including beautifully restored colonial era buildings and important landmarks like the former Supreme Court and City Hall. Head from here to Orchard Road, the heart of Singapore’s commercial centre and the most famous shopping street in the country. Orchard Road is a swanky avenue lined with more than 800,000 square metres of shopping outlets and restaurants – more than 5,000 establishments on a single boulevard!
Switch gears from retail into relaxation at the nearby National Orchid Garden. Wander through the garden to enjoy the sight and smell of 60,000 plants and orchids. Keep an eye out for the delicate pink blossoms of the country’s national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim!

Day 3: Chinatown, Kampong Glam & Little India (B)
Spend the morning exploring Singapore’s three major ethnic enclaves, and in turn the story behind how Singapore grew to become the fascinating cultural melting pot it is today.
Set off first to Chinatown, a glittering blend of old and new, where traditional medicinal halls and goldsmiths sit alongside hip hotels and restaurants. Wander through the streets toward the breathtaking Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum – a scarlet-red monolith built in traditional Chinese style – before heading to Sri Mariamman Temple, the oldest Hindu temple in Singapore. Walk past the ornate exterior of the building to discover its depths. Built in 1827 for the goddess Mariamman, it’s still used as a primary site of worship for Tamil Hindus today.
Continue on to Kampong Glam, the Malay ethnic enclave in Singapore and the city-state’s oldest urban quarter. Stop at the landmark Sultan Mosque and its captivating golden dome, the biggest and most impressive in Singapore. Hang out in this area for a while to browse the shops selling traditional wares and exquisite fabrics. Then, head to Arab Street, home to stalls selling handmade perfumes and traditional Malay dresses.
Finally, head to Little India and discover this uniquely vibrant and colourful district. Wrap up the day in this region, where all of Singapore’s unique cultures meet and blend in a bizarre mosaic of wet shops, food courts and shopping areas!
